Southern California serves as a major hub in an intricate, global trade network, connecting domestic and international cities with one another. The Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are the region's main trade gateway to the Pacific Rim. Although the points of entry for imports are discrete, the economic, environmental, and health impacts span the entire region.

People who work or reside anywhere within the Southern California region—and beyond—are therefore stakeholders in issues surrounding global trade. Our Academic Partners, Community Sponsors, Community Partners, and Exhibitors represented diverse groups with a shared interest in global trade, goods movement, jobs, and health.

  • Sponsors were the main organizers and funders for the meeting.
  • Academic Partners were universities and colleges that provided financial support, interns, or Town Meeting organizational support.
  • Community Sponsors were organizations that provided financial support to the Town Meeting.
  • Community Partners were community-based organizations that pledged to have at least 15 community members participate in the meeting, helped publicize the event, or hosted a booth at the Town Meeting.
  • Exhibitors were additional organizations that hosted a table exhibit with information about their environmental efforts.
