Community Outreach

The mission of the Community Outreach and Education Core (COEC) is to increase public understanding and awareness of the effects of the environment on human health and ways to reduce harmful exposures. The focus of the COEC is on the health impacts of air pollution from transportation-related sources in Southern California. The COEC links the Center’s research with the public, including community, school, business, public health, media and other professional organizations. The COEC hosts conferences, produces a newsletter, gives presentations, collaborates with other research centers, and creates partnerships with community organizations. Center members and outreach faculty and staff regularly brief local, state and national policymakers on the Center's latest research findings.
