Goals & Objectives
The goal of the Analytical Chemistry, Exposure Assessment, and Aerosol Science Facility Core (called the Analytical Facility Core for short) is to provide exposure assessment services to Center investigators for proposal preparation and the conduct of environmental research studies.
Specific Objectives
  • To provide high quality, state-of-the-art chemical analysis of trace contaminants in environmental media such as water, air, food, and tissue.
  • To provide consultation and expertise on aerosol sampling, sample collection, chemical speciation, and physical characterization.
  • To provide consultation and planning for exposure assessment in proposal development.
  • To provide exposure assessment assistance and field services to Center investigators, including the loan of environmental sampling and direct reading instrumentation and trained personnel (such as graduate students) to provide field operations support in research projects.
  • To encourage collaboration between Analytical Facility Core members and other Center investigators for the development of new methods and instruments.
  • To serve as a referral link to the Exposure Assessment Research Core.
