What is Goods Movement?

“Goods Movement” refers to the transportation of for-sale products from the location of their manufacture or harvest to their final retail destination.

Example of Cargo Containers being shipped to the United States from Asia:

42% of all containerized imports that enter the U.S. come through the Ports of LA and Long Beach

On a typical day in California:

  • 30,000 containers arrive/leave via ship
  • 1,200 locomotives are operating
  • 250,000 big-rig trucks are on roads
