East LA & Commerce

East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice (EYCEJ) is a nonprofit organization based in the City of Commerce, CA, working towards a safe and healthy environment for communities. They are particularly concerned about the impacts of port traffic (rail and container trucks) through their community and at the two intermodal facilities in their neighborhood.  EYCEJ  is working toward protective policies at the local, state and national levels.

EYCEJ has an ongoing group of active community members that participate as A-Team members in the City of Commerce area. These members engage in offering public comment, providing testimonials, and speaking with the media regarding goods movement issues in the region. EYCEJ is preparing to do an extensive strategic training series that would better prepare its active community members to engage policy-makers and media outlets.
