Bensenville Railyard | Illinois

Bensenville is a small town in DuPage County, Illinois with a population of 20,703 based on the 2000 Census. It is located just south of Chicago’s O’Hare airport. Owned and operated by Canadian Pacific, it is a large classification yard in the Chicago hub. It was built in 1953 and handled more than 3,600 cars per day in the 1950s and 1960s. Bensenville yard has a total capacity of 8.823 cars including auxiliary tracks for the storage of equipment. Trains that arrive to the Chicago on the Milwaukee Road are all switched at the Bensenville hump yard.
