J.R. Davis Railyard | California
Roseville is a city in Placer County, CA with more than 100,000 residents. In Roseville, there is a large “classification rail yard” owned by Union Pacific Rail Road, called the J.R. Davis Yard. In a classification yard trains are switched from one track to another.
The Roseville rail yard has been studied by air pollution officials and environmental health scientists because there are so many diesel locomotives operating in close proximity to Roseville homes. Exposure to emissions from diesel engines cause concern because diesel exhaust has been linked to cancer, heart disease and other illnesses.
